Xobni - Inbox Spelled Backwards and How It Is Taking Email Forward

Posted by Bronwyn Lewis on Jan 12, 2008 in technology |

From time to time I’ll come across some new piece of technology or software that gets me really excited. Anything that can invoke that kind of passion… well there has to be something to it, right?

This week it’s an email add-on called Xobni (yes, that’s inbox spelled backwards). Xobni was one of the TechCrunch40 in 2007. The basic idea is to “take the inbox back”.

One of the things I’ve talked about with friends before is how we are so dependent on email, but… its missing so many things. There has to be something better, right? Well, so far, Xobni is that “something better” I’ve been dying for when it comes to email.

You need to a flashplayer enabled browser to view this YouTube video

Highlights include:

  • Fantastic and speedy search (emails, attachments, contacts, etc.)
  • See all the files you’ve exchanged with one of your contacts
  • Email analytics (response time, incoming and outgoing, hourly/daily/weekly/etc.)

I really cannot say enough about Xobni. I’m using the Outlook beta at work and already have 5 or 10 people in my office hooked up with it — it just makes email easier.

It’s in private beta still, but you can sign up to get on the list for the Outlook beta, and also for future releases for Gmail, Apple Mail, etc.
